Today you'll begin the 2nd major assignment of the semester: designing and illustrating a poster for International Women's Day 2015.
Your IWD poster must include the following typographic elements:
"Mohawk College Celebrates Women in Science, Technology & Skilled Trades"
"International Women's Day, March 8, 2015"
The International Women's Day logo and URL
The name of your subject woman
Her title or profession
A paragraph or so describing her career or accomplishments
Your credit line: "Designed by 3rd semester Mohawk College Graphic Design Student __________"
The first step is to begin researching women who have made their mark in science, technology and skilled trades. Aim as close to home as possible. Ideally your candidate will be a Mohawk College graduate, but someone from Hamilton, The GTHA, Ontario, or Canada will also be acceptable (in that order).
Here's a list of subject women chosen by students in previous years.
